As was previously reported by L’Equipe, it seems as if Francis Coquelin’s knee injury sustained against Chelsea at the weekend isn’t as serious as was first feared but he will miss our Basel clash on Wednesday.

Coquelin has a bad history with knee ligament injuries and when he limped off against Chelsea on Saturday, we all feared the worst. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be quite as serious as we first thought and he should only be out for three weeks. Whether this means literally three weeks or Arsenal’s version of three weeks (aka three months), we’ll just have to see.

Needless to say, Coq misses out on our Champions League match against Basel at the Emirates. However, we have enough cover in that area that we don’t need to panic, which is pretty nice.

Coq seems pretty robust so hopefully he can return to the squad as soon as possible. Just because we have options now, doesn’t mean to say we can relax too much, we still want a fully fit squad.
