Steven Davis is aiming for all three points when Southampton travel to the Emirates this weekend as the Premier League resumes while Ryan Bertrand is hoping to return from injury.

Picking up a 0-0 draw last season when they arrived in north London, Southampton have not won at Arsenal, in the league at least, since 1987, but they’ve certainly made it more than a little difficult for us.

“We managed to get the win in the cup, but it’s been a long time since we won there in the league so it would be nice to get that monkey off our back,” he told saintsfc.co.uk

“We’ve done quite well against them and the games have been pretty tight with us in the past few seasons so we’ll take a lot of confidence really from putting in good performances there, maybe not quite getting that result, but with a little bit of luck hopefully we’ll do it this weekend.”

Former Chelsea youngster, Ryan Bertrand, is also hoping to be involved in the game after missing out on their first three Premier League matches through injury.

“You need games to get to full fitness, but I’m as fit as possible with the work that I have put in on the training ground over the last few weeks,” Bertrand said

“It’s good to be back out there training and getting back up to fitness. Everything has gone well so far and I’m looking forward to getting back out on the pitch.

“It has been a bit easier for me this time around. Last year was a bit longer with more rehabilitation, but this season it was just unfortunate. I’m back now and that’s the main thing.

“Injuries make you more aware of yourself and your body and also aware of what precautions you have to take moving forward.”

“If selected, I’ll come in and give it my all, like I always have done. It’s going to be a tough game, but it would be great to help the team to a first win of the season this weekend.”
