The highest praise I can give the Arsenal team that spanked four past Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night is that I forgot Mesut Ozil wasn’t playing.

It wasn’t until I saw his tweet pop up on my timeline, as he congratulated his teammates on the win, that I remembered he hadn’t been a part of what was some scintillating football from a team that could rightly have been stuttery and disjointed given how rarely they all play together.

But they weren’t.

They were anything but and the performance and result really shows the depth that Arsene Wenger has at his disposal. It’s only one result, but it’s enough to get you excited, especially when you see Lucas brushing off defenders and scrapping to poke home the ball, Granit Xhaka showing his goal against Hull wasn’t a fluke and the Ox showing everything that’s great about his game as he scored the fourth.
