Arsenal are reportedly closing in on agreeing five-year deals with both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, making a mockery of reports that we seen sporadically that the duo want to leave.

Both players have two years left on their current deals, with Mesut signing a five-year one when he first arrived and Alexis a four.

Both players were also linked, quite a bit, with moves away from the club this summer, something we said sounded like a load of nonsense. And it was.

With negotiations resuming when the players returned to the club after their international adventures over the summer, the deals are expected to be completed ‘in the near future’ and would tie them both to the club until 2021 when both Mesut and Alexis would be 32.

With their ages in mind, leaving aside a move stateside, to Qatar or China, this is likely to be the duos last bumper contract at a Champions League club.
