An interesting piece of news coming out of the Nottingham Forest camp on Monday was that Nicklas Bendtner looks as if he could start against Arsenal in the EFL Cup.

The former Gunner, who was released from Wolfsburg back in April, is apparently ready to start a game, according to Forest boss, Philippe Montanier.

“Damien Perquis, Britt Assombalonga and Thomas Lam will be missing through injury tomorrow night as they need a few more days to recover,” Montanier said during his pre-Arsenal press conference.
“But Nicklas Bendtner is fit and ready to start a game now.
“It is a special game for Nicklas but he’s a very experienced player. We want him to use his emotion to play well in the game. Arsenal may field a different starting line-up but that will not make it easier for us because they have many talented young players.”

It’ll be interesting to see Bendtner on the pitch again. He’s not had the most steady career – not because he’s not a decent enough striker when he gets his head down and applies himself, but because he gets distracted easily. He misbehaves, turns up later to training and throws his physical health to the wayside.

Saying this, he’s only 28 now so he’s got plenty of time to turn this around. Hopefully, his time with Forest will allow him to kick start his career again.

The Dane insists that he won’t ‘go crazy’ if he scores against Arsenal but he will celebrate, which he should!
