When Shkodran Mustafi went down holding his ankle in Germany’s recent 2-0 win over Finland, Arsenal fans feared the worst but apparently he’s fine and ready to play against Southampton.

The game is in a week’s time so we shouldn’t have to wait long to see our new £35m centre-back in action.

It would be just Arsenal’s luck if the former Valencia man had picked up an injury during a friendly, considering the reason we bought him was to cover for the injured Per Mertesacker and Gabriel, but he’s reportedly fine.

It’ll be good to have the extra experience against Southampton, considering they seem to run us ragged whenever we encounter them. Just having Mustafi in the squad should be a boost.

I’m sure the German will get a warm welcome when he steps foot on the pitch and hopefully he doesn’t let the pressure of his price tag get to him.
