Laurent Koscielny spoke to BT Sport following Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against PSG on Tuesday night and urged his teammates to stop ‘sleeping’ in the opening minutes of every match.

The Frenchman compared the poor start to the Gunners’ performance against Southampton at the weekend and pointed out how we can’t keep making the same mistake.

“I think it’s a good point but we came here with our ambition and we wanted to have the three points, but when we start like this it’s difficult to play,” he said.

“Maybe in the final third we didn’t find the good ball to score, but we came back. During the game against Southampton in the Premier League we slept and we need to change this in the future. We need to be strong from the first minute to the end.”

Although PSG did threaten and David Ospina pretty much kept us in the game with three brilliant saves in the second half, they still only scored once and that was through Cavani in the 42nd second. If we had kept that out and still gone onto score, that would be three points away to the group favourites – not bad at all.

If we can just sort ourselves out and hold our structure from the get-go, we shouldn’t be getting into these situations where we need to fight back to earn a point.

Hopefully, the rest of the squad listen to Kos and realise that we need to wake up.
