Alex Iwobi is set to get a call up to the senior Nigerian national side for their game against Zambia on 9th October.

The 20-year-old has played 151 minutes in the Premier League this season over three matches, missing part of the campaign after picking up a problem against Liverpool in the league opener and was only denied his first goal of 16/17 by Alexis Sanchez’s lightening quick reactions.

Barrister, Isaac Danladi, a member of the NFF Technical Committee informed AllAfrica.com that Iwobi is expected to be recalled to the side by Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, after missing their 1-0 win over Tanzania due to the aforementioned thigh strain.

Nigeria’s game against Zambia is a World Cup qualifier, and will be played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndolo, Zambia. Opened in 2012, the ground is named after the third President of Zambia who served from 2002 until his death in 2008.
