Wojciech Szczesny is struggling to explain Roma’s form this season, with the Arsenal man claiming that it has to be down to their ‘heads’ and ‘attitude’, something he should know enough about after some of the performances we saw from him at Arsenal.

With just one point from three away games in Serie A, Roma are currently in fourth place with 10 points from six games, having won all their home games.

Clearly, something is afoot once they leave the Stadio Olimpico.

But what?

Speaking after their latest defeat, a 3-1 defeat at Torino with their only goal [Totti] coming from the penalty spot in the 55th minute when they were 2-0 down, Szczesny said, “It is difficult to explain what is happening.

“It must be a question of our heads, you just need to see our home and away performances. They are completely different.

“When we play away it is a question of attitude, of application and of battling.

“Torino were very aggressive on the pitch, so it doesn’t depend on our quality but of our approach and confidence.”

Next up for Roma is a home game against Astra Giurgiu on Thursday night in the Europa League. Szczesny is expected to take a spot on the bench for that game as Luciano Spalletti turns to Allison for the competition.

Astra Giurgiu are the current Romanian champions after they won Liga 1 for the first time in the 95-year history last season. They finished three points ahead of Dinamo Buucuresti.
