Santi Cazorla hailed Laurent Koscielny after the Arsenal captain’s amazing overhead kick pulled Arsenal into the game against Southampton.

Coming straight out of the ‘world class’ drawer, Kos’s finish was his 16th Premier League goal, making him Arsenal’s leading scoring defender in the Premier League era with 16 (21 overall).

Santi himself, as you know, got on the scoresheet from the spot. Showing incredible nerve, he was forced to wait for a number of minutes while Kos received treatment for his cheekbone injury, treatment that, in reality, should have come sooner, but would have robbed Arsenal of their penalty.

Speaking after the game, Santi said, “It [the goal] is amazing.

“He is one of the best defenders in the world, and we are lucky he plays for Arsenal so congratulations to LoLo – and happy birthday my friend.”

Kos faces a race against the clock to be fit for the game against PSG in Paris on Tuesday night. Suffering significant swelling, there is no word yet if there is any bone damage at this point but given how it happened, which you can see in the video below, it wouldn’t be surprising if he did.
