According to Bild, Werder Bremen are paying €5m plus bonuses for Serge Gnabry.

There were a few conflicting reports doing the rounds on transfer deadline day. Some claimed that the German winger was between €3-6m, while a few the day before were claiming that Bayern Munich were set to pay ‘over €8m’.

Basically, no one knew.

However, Bild is now claiming that it’s around €5m plus bonuses, which sounds like the most plausible amount considering the figures that were being thrown about over the past couple of days. We probably should have received more, since he’s a huge talent for the future but what can we do?

Werder lost their opening match of the Bundesliga season 6-0 against Bayern Munich and currently sit stone-bonkers last as a result. Therefore, they’ll be hoping that Gnabry can give them a little something extra in attack.

“He is a very young player who most recently shown at the Olympic Games has what skills he has, how fast and goal threat he can be,” Werder boss, Frank Baumann, said shortly after announcing the deal.

“I am convinced that he can excel with continued game time in the Bundesliga.”

As we’ve said throughout this story, it’s a shame to see the 21-year-old leave but with only one year left on his Arsenal contract, we didn’t have much of a choice.
