Olivier Giroud faces a late fitness test ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Hull after picking up a knock to his big toe.

You heard.

During Arsene Wenger’s press conference ahead of the Premier League clash, the boss revealed that he might not start with the big guy up front because he’s facing late fitness tests…

“Olivier Giroud got a little knock [to his big toe] on Tuesday night,” Wenger said, according to Arsenal.com.

“I have to check if he is fit and available.”

It’s a bit of a random injury to pick up and I wouldn’t panic too much yet. For all we know this could be Wenger’s sense of humour.

Giroud has been finding it hard to get game time this season, which is a little odd considering he’s our only ‘fit’ out-and-out striker at the moment. I’m not sure what Wenger’s reason behind this is, especially as he’s insisting on playing Alexis alone up top, but I’m sure there is one.

We’ll see if Oli’s in the starting XI or indeed squad at all on Saturday.

Let’s hope the poor guy’s toe is alright…
