According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal (and Chelsea) haven’t given up on Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

The France international had a brilliant tournament at Euro 2016; he scored six goals in seven games and also got two assists.

This season, he’s already scored four La Liga goals in three appearances and got one assist. He’s only 25 so is yet to hit his ‘prime’ in footballing terms, so he’s a hugely exciting player. You can understand why Atletico tied him down to a new contract before the Euros and slapped a huge £85m release clause on him.

Arsenal have been linked with him on and off over the years. However, I don’t think we could ever stretch to £85m for one player. No matter how highly rated he is. The report from TuttoMercatoWeb suggests we’re still after him but so are Chelsea, who, apparently, would be willing to stump up the cash.

Griezmann is a brilliant player but I don’t see him coming to Arsenal.
