Roma’s goalkeeper, Alisson, seems a bit put out by the arrival of Wojciech Szczesny in the city after he lost his place and ended up on the bench.

The goalkeeper, who was only signed by the Serie A side during the summer, told Globoesporte, “I played in pre-season friendlies with Roma, now have two games that I do not play, but I’m calm.

“I had to face a change, but things happen more naturally in my life. I’m training a lot, when a goalkeeper does not play has to prove its value always, although he lacks match fitness, if called upon, not jeopardising of the match and be ready.”

The 23-year-old arrived from Internacional for a £6.8m fee and while he does seem to have been purchased as the number one in the long term, Roma brought Sczcesny back, specifically on loan, to allow Alisson time to settle and acclimatise before shipping Woj back to London and moving on with life with their Brazilian.

It’s unlikely that Alisson was not aware of this when he signed.
