Alexis Sanchez has been linked with a move to Manchester City over the past few days and now the reports seem to have gathered pace, claiming that Pep Guardiola’s side wants to sign the Chilean as soon as January.

Contract negotiations with Alexis (and Mesut Ozil) are the talk of the town right now, with Juventus being the main club linked with the star up until this point. However, now, Manchester Evening News are claiming that the Blues could be making a swoop for Alexis in the winter transfer window.

According to the same report, Alexis is holding out for a £200,000 a week deal with the Gunners and his hesitation over putting pen to paper has put the likes of Juve and City on high alert.

Alexis’ current deal runs out in 2018 and I’d like to think that if he chooses not to sign a new contract with us, we wouldn’t sell such a talent to our rivals. I’m pretty sure we’ve learnt from that mistake and we’re not quite as in need of money as we were a few years ago.

Here’s hoping.
