Shkodran Mustafi’s father has apparently got involved again, reportedly informing Goal.com that we’ll know where the centre-back is going soon and that more than one Premier League club wants him.

After it was reported that Liverpool are after the German defender, Kujtim Mustafi, the player’s father and manager, claimed that there are “two or more clubs are in negotiations” with his son but “very soon you will know about the future of Mustafi.” Okay…

The comments given to Goal.com feel a little strange but other publications, such as the Metro, have also picked up on them so they’re presumably genuine.

What is clear is that something is at least happening behind the scenes to indicate that we’re interested. Whether these comments from Mustafi’s father is just him trying to hurry us along a bit, I don’t know.

This isn’t the first time Mr. Mustafi has confirmed talks were going on behind the scenes, either, which is another reason to believe they’re true.

Meanwhile Wenger was asked about the potential transfer and was typically tight-lipped.

“I believe it is better I don’t speak about any individual player,” he said.

“We are working very hard. You are absolutely convinced that I don’t want to spend the money, but I would like to reassure you that we are ready to spend the money we have. As always, not the money we haven’t got [because] it is not my money.”

Is this just a ploy to get us to make a proper bid or could we miss out?
