New midfielder, Granit Xhaka, hailed his new Arsenal teammates recently, claiming that they’re fun but also serious when they have to be.

Arsenal’s warm, welcoming nature is something that multiple players have praised. They describe it as a family and although the more cynical among us may claim this is all just media training because that’s the image the club wants to portray, I do believe there’s a large grain of truth to it.

Speaking recently, former Wolfsburg midfielder, Xhaka, spoke about how much fun the squad can be.

“I’ve been welcomed really well,” Xhaka told Arsenal Player.

“My team-mates are great – very friendly, very nice and they know when to have fun and when to be serious. That’s why I feel really happy here.

“I’ve done a lot with Santi Cazorla and Hector [Bellerin], but I have a good understanding with all my team-mates. I think it’s important to have that and that you don’t leave anyone behind.

“I think it always helps when you’re with each other for almost 24 hours a day, when you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together. You get to know each other better and quicker, and that’s important too.”

It’s good to see the 23-year-old fitting in and making friends at the club. Something that Arsene Wenger really values is unity within the team. This way, the players aren’t just performing for themselves, they’re playing for their peers. They have each other’s backs.

At the moment, we have a good balance of personalities in the squad. It could be argued that perhaps we need more domineering players on the pitch, but off of it I think we gel pretty well.

Hopefully, this cohesion will translate into performances.
