Jack Wilshere’s knee injury is worse than Arsenal originally feared; the midfielder is set to miss out on the rest of the Gunners’ pre-season tour. But is anyone surprised?

Arsene Wenger initially thought the injury-prone midfielder would only be out for a week and predicted that his ‘minor’ patella problem would be healed by our Viking clash today (Friday).

“It’s a slight patella problem but I think he should be with us on tour on Thursday,” Wenger said.

“I hope he will [ play on Thursday], yes.”

However, this appears to not be the case and Jack hasn’t traveled to Scandinavia with the squad.

This also means that the 24-year-old won’t feature against Manchester City in our final pre-season game before we face Liverpool in the opening match of the 2016/17 season.

How much do you want to bet that Jack will miss that as well?

The midfielder only made three appearances for Arsenal last season and to hear he’s already injured is a blow but hardly surprising, which is an issue in and of itself.

Fortunately, we have plenty of cover in his position but it does make you wonder about how useful he truly is to the club.
