West Ham Season Ticket Holder and blogger, Sean Whetstone, claims that the Hammers have not bid €50m for Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette despite what many are claiming.

West Ham were linked with the striker earlier on in the window before the name Lacazette quickly took over Gooners’ lives. According to L’Equipe, a €50m bid was turned down because the Ligue 1 wanted to keep the player and because the 25-year-old wanted Champions League football.

Cue Arsenal – both in need of a striker and in the Champions League – being incessantly linked and a bid being made and rejected. Everything surrounding that rumour is still a little shady… but that’s a different story.

The saga involving the Hammers, however, is slightly different because it appears that some outlets are misreading the original report from the France tabloid.

The tone of Matt Spiro’s tweet on the report makes it sound as if West Ham did make a bid at one point and had it turned down, we don’t know when exactly that was, whereas numerous other sources are implying that they’ve only just made it.

Either way, this has been denied by Sean Whetstone and while he’s by no means an official spokesperson for West Ham, he has a following of £29.3k and seems to generally be ‘ITK’ *Kill Bill sirens*.

Oh and they’re not interested in Carlos Bacca anymore, with many claiming it’s his wage demands that have caused talks to break down.
