Arsene Wenger hailed Laurent Koscielny following Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Leicester on Saturday and admitted that he has no other solutions for central defence right now.

According to the boss, Koscielny saved us a point against the Foxes and revealed that the centre-back even had a ‘big back problem’ when he left training the day before.

“We look a different team straight away and he gave us stability against a team that attacks very well,” Wenger said to the press after the match.

“I think he was very important.

“I saw that we were a bit too young [in defence] and I have no real solution at central defence at the moment. In fairness he had a big back problem yesterday when he came out of the training.

“We came with 19 players and this morning we decided that he could play and I think it saved us this point.”

Kos might well have saved us a point but we were lucky not to been given a penalty or two against us. Maybe Mark Clattenburg really saved us the point?

Arsene Wenger says he has no central defensive solutions right now, obviously other than to put Kos into the mix while he’s supposed to be resting after Euro 2016, but he did also confirm on French TV recently that Arsenal are in talks with Valencia over Shkodran Mustafi so we shouldn’t be too nervous.

As stubborn as Wenger is, I highly doubt he wouldn’t sign a central defender, given our current situation, just to save money.

The striker situation… I’m not so sure about.
