Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Calum Chambers could be leaving Arsenal on loan this season.

After the boss confirmed that it looks as if Shkodran Mustafi will be on his way to north London shortly, he was asked about what this meant for Calum Chambers regarding his future at the club.

“Future? No (it won’t be affected),” insisted Wenger ahead of Watford.

“The fact that he could go out somewhere and play? Yes.”

There’s been talk of the former Southampton man going out on loan over the past few days and now that Wenger has confirmed that he could, I’m a little worried.

I’m not saying that Chambers should be our first choice centre-back. However, we’ve got two – Per Mertesacker and Gabriel – out injured and only appear to be looking to bring one in – Mustafi. Of course, I realise that we’ve also signed Rob Holding from Bolton but he’s only 21. Are we really going to use him as a full-time, senior centre-back until Gabriel returns?

I don’t know. At the moment, I don’t want to complain too much since it seems as if we could be about to sign two players.
