Takuma Asano got his Olympics off to a great start with a goal against Nigeria in their opener.

Speaking at length about recent events, including the decision to sign for Arsenal, the youngster said what a dream it was to be playing in Rio. A level-headed forward, both on and off the pitch, Asano impressed and kept his dream going in a goal-crazy game that saw the Super Eagles win 5-4.

Asano found the back of the net in the 70th minute after being subbed on just 17 minutes earlier. He also hit the post not long after. His goal came when Japan were trailing 5-2.

Watching the match, bonzai77, said of Asano, “He’ll need to bulk up a bit for PL defenders but I like his movement, he’s actually been decent in hold up play with his back to goal and is dangerous in the box. He looks an exciting prospect. It’s too bad we couldn’t see him in a friendly getting service from Cazorla and Xhaka.”

Serge Gnabry also came off the bench to score for Germany as they drew 2-2 with Mexico.
