On Tuesday it was being reported that Arsenal had bid €16m for Juventus’s Mario Lemina in the wake of Aaron Ramsey’s injury that will keep him sidelined for a month.

Right.

First up, let’s deal with the stupidity.

Who buys a player to cover for a one-month injury? Nobody. It’s just absurd.

You don’t shell out a load of millions, plus wages for three, four or five years because you’re short for a month. It’s like buying a new house just because yours is being renovated for a few weeks.

Secondly, this isn’t new news. We reported this alleged bid last week and nothing has changed in this story other than some people are now saying that it is to replace Ramsey on what was a very slow news day.

Juve want €20m. They wanted €20m last week too.

Nothing has changed on this and there is no evidence to suggest that Arsenal have made the bid or that they have went back for a second go at it.
