Arsenal’s forward, Asisat Oshoala, has been endorsed as an ambassador of Capital Oil in her home country of Nigeria after the African Player of the Year was honoured with a brief ceremony.

Presenting the chief of the company, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (a man who owns a football team named after himself, Ifeanyi Ubah FC), with an Arsenal shirt at the ceremony which took place in London’s Docklands at the Crowne Plaza hotel, Oshoala was delighted with the honour.

Also present was Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo.

Oshoala pledged to ‘sustain the strongest legacy of Capital Oil in Nigeria’ by continuing to play well for club and country and was then invited by Ubah to be a sepecial guest when he opens the inaugural women’s football league which is set to start later this year in Anamdra state. Ubah is expected to launch a team to play in the league as well.

Ubah also agreed to be a patron of Oshoala’s charity, the Asisat Oshoala Foundation, which aims to help the less fortunate make a living for themselves and help them to discover their footballing talents.

Oshoala added that she was ‘humbled’ by the honour accorded to her by the chief and for the reception she received.

Capital Oil recently signed a partnership agreement with West Ham, the club’s first African partner.
