If you thought it was just Arsenal who were going to have to do without players for the first game of the season, then you’ll likely be glad to know that Liverpool could be without Daniel Sturridge as well.

The injury-plagued striker has been ruled out of his side’s friendlies this weekend and is listed as ‘could be a doubt’ in a few papers.

Despite his history, showing more signs that he is made of Arsenal DNA than any other, the injury is not said to be serious and Sturridge is being rested as a precaution.

We all know if he actually was an Arsenal player, we wouldn’t see him again for the rest of 2016.

That being said, this is Daniel Sturridge, so that’s always a possibility anyway.

Liverpool play Barcelona on Saturday evening in the International Champions Cup.
