After all the drama surrounding Shkodran Mustafi’s rumoured move to Arsenal on Monday, it’s easy to get carried away when he’s left out of Valencia’s starting lineup v Las Palmas.

Mustafi has apparently been training by himself for a little while, or at least he was, but Valencia’s official stance on this was that he was carrying a bit of an injury so he wasn’t ready to train with the rest of the squad. This is perfectly believable.

Therefore, despite how some are viewing the situation, which they’re completely free to do, it looks as if he’s just not match fit, which is why he was left out of Valencia’s starting XI.

Meanwhile, the rumour mill is still going into overdrive claiming that we’re unwilling to meet Mustafi’s release clause of €50m.

Could it be a ‘transfer niggle’? I doubt it. If the La Liga club are really trying to drive up his price, they’d want him featuring. I reckon he’s just not fit enough yet.
