Despite the fact that Valencia’s manager, Pako Ayestaran, says that Shkrodran Mustafi isn’t going anywhere, Sky Sports claim that he wants to.

Sky Sports presenter, Marc Behrenbeck, has popped up to claim that Mustafi wants to sign a contract with Arsenal and that the talks between the two clubs are still going on.

Oh for goodness sake.

Aystaran said on Monday night that the German centre-back isn’t going anywhere, essentially saying that the deal is dead despite the window still being open. Obviously, we realise that you can’t always trust what club officials say but it’s far easier on our hearts and minds if we just do for the moment.

Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, reported earlier in the day that the Gunners will have to meet Mustafi’s €50m release clause if they want him, so the comments from the Valencia manager didn’t really come as a huge shock.

Behrenbeck seems to think that this is all just the La Liga club trying to get as much money as they can out of the deal.

Who knows? Right now, I don’t even think the people involved really do.
