Arsenal are so close to officially announcing Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez as Gunners, even Arsene Wenger has confirmed it – here’s all the latest on our two new almost-signings.

After sources claimed that Perez and Mustafi were in London to complete their Arsenal medicals on Friday – one of which being David Ornstein from the BBC – we all got a little excited. What’s more is that Wenger himself confirmed that he was trying to get the deals completed in his pre-Watford press conference the same morning.

The ‘gossip’ that followed was mainly variations of ‘Perez has completed his medical’, while Mustafi was also understood to have had his.

Meanwhile, Valencia manager, confirmed that Mustafi was on his way out of the La Liga club.

Following Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Watford at Vicarage Road, the boss casually announced that yes, we had signed both players.

The deals are expected to be announced soon, with some sources claiming that it would be today (Saturday), despite Wenger saying it would be early next week.

Perez is thought to have cost Arsenal around £17.1m while Mustafi is said to have cost £35m.

The latest in the ‘saga’, if you could really call it that at this point, is that Mustafi’s former club, Sampdoria, are reportedly set to receive €3.5m from the sale of the centre-back to Arsenal.

The German only spent two years at the Genoa based club but according to claims made in the Italian media, they’re owed 10%. Although, just a note – 10% of £35m is not €3.5m… just saying.

Meanwhile Valencia are apparently lining up Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo as Mustafi’s replacement. More on this later.
