According to sources, Shkodran Mustafi traveled to London for his Arsenal medical on Friday morning and an announcement is ‘imminent’.

The centre-back is said to be about to sign for the Gunners for €40m and yesterday (Thursday) he was rumoured to be on his way to London to have his medical, which, according to Deporte Valenciano, he has done.

Obviously, if the reports are true, there were no issues but it’s likely that if a medical was carried out, Arsenal will want to make sure everything’s in place before announcing it. It’s important to note that although the outlet says that he did fly to London to have his medical, they don’t claim that it’s been completed. Obviously, we can all make our own assumptions but we don’t yet know for sure.

Arsenal have now become renowned for not confirming signings until everything – and I mean everything – is 100% done. It’s a sensible way of carrying out business but frustrating for the fans.

The Mustafi to Arsenal transfer saga has rattled on for weeks now and it’s a relief that it appears to be reaching its conclusion soon. We need a senior centre-back and I’m sure the German is the right man for the job.
