Can you feel it? We’re only a few days away from the start of the season, we’ve just beaten Manchester City, but still the majority of the talk is about who we haven’t signed.

So what will we start with today? News or gossip?

Let’s deal with the real stuff.

Ahead of Arsenal v Liverpool, the Scousers have been losing players to injury at a rate that would make even an Arsenal’s head spin. Good thing they’ll have Michael Oliver to help them out this weekend. After just returning for the club against City on Sunday, Aaron Ramsey is raring to go and has declared himself ‘ready’ for the game.

It was also revealed that one of Sunday’s goalscorers, Kelechi Ilheanacho, was stopped from signing for Arsenal by his former coach who claims it was nothing to do with money and everything to do with getting more playing time. It’s nonsense as I show here.

Serge Gnabry and Takuma Asano continue to light up the Olympics with their goals. Both players have scored in both their games so far.

There’s still no news on Gabriel’s injury but we weren’t expecting it today. When Wenger was asked about the possibility of a scan he pointed out that the players wouldn’t be landing until midnight so it seemed like Tuesday was a much more sensible option to us – providing, of course, that the swelling has gone down enough to allow the scan to be effective.

The ladies were drawn away to Manchester City in the Conti Cup semi-final. As they look to defend their trophy, they appear to have to do it the hard way against a side that has lost none in the league this season and only one in 2016.

Granit Xhaka told us what his initiation song was about and it was nice to see he’s under no illusion about his singing voice and we also found out that Newcastle United paid £2.5m for Iassc Hayden. Jordi Cruyff said some nice things about Arsenal.

Gossip was everywhere but none of it seemed like anything to get excited about. Julian Draxler still isn’t going anywhere, but he does have a release clause, and now Real Madrid might fancy him to replace Jese who signed for PSG on a five-year deal. Another forward you can scratch off your list.

AC Milan have reportedly withdrawn their bid for Skhodran Mustafi, leaving the field clear for Arsenal, while a new name made the Arsenal rumour mill in Gaston Pereiro.

Hull City want Emiliano Martinez on loan (you should read that piece for the hilarious Sun c**kup at the end) and Arsenal are apparently preparing (yawn) a ridiculous offer for Mauro Icardi.

They aren’t.

Are they preparing things? I’ve no doubt about it. Are they phoning the press to tell them in advance?

Behave.

Oh, and we might be about to buy a young striker from Charlton. I’m sure that will go down well.

But don’t worry, the Kroenke’s aren’t afraid to spend money. He’ll probably only cost around £2m anyway.
