Ryan Huddart and Dan Crowley were benched by Eastleigh and Oxford United on Saturday as both of their loan teams kicked off the National League and League One seasons.
Ryan Huddart
Huddart’s Eastleigh beat Guiseley AFC 2-1. Their goals came courtesy of Andy Drury and Joe Partington in the first half, which meant that even Guiseley’s 56th-minute header from Michael Rankine wasn’t enough to scrape a point.
The home team were by far the strongest, attacking at will. However, despite giving a few players their competitive debut, Huddart was left on the bench.
The goalkeeper, who signed from Arsenal on a season-long loan on June 19th, previously featured in friendlies for his temporary team but was obviously not given the nod when it mattered.
The 19-year-old will be hoping that the coach, Chris Todd, gives him a chance next time.

Dan Crowley
Crowley also failed to feature for Oxford United on Sunday. Like Huddart, he’s featured in friendlies since singing on a season-long loan at the beginning of July. However, when it came to a competitive match, the 19-year-old was left out.
United drew with Chesterfield 1-1 thanks to goals from Wes Thomas (United) and Ched Evans (Chesterfield).
Sam Long won Man of the Match.

Crowley will be hoping to get more of a look in during Oxford United’s next fixture against Birmingham in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
