Under pressure following wins earlier in the day from Manchester City and Chelsea, the Arsenal Ladies did not disappoint and brought home three points in a tough away 2-0 win at Notts County Ladies.

Manchester City should win the League as they have 35 points with three games to play against the three teams behind them in the table. City are ten points ahead of Chelsea who have five games to play and could in theory reach 38 points.

Arsenal have four games remaining and can reach a maximum of 35 points ie Arsenal Ladies won’t win the League in 2016 and have not since Laura Harvey’s final season at the club back in 2012.

The runners-up place is still possible, as the team are only trailing Chelsea by two points but have played an extra game. A double Chelsea slip-up would open the door for the Arsenal Ladies to snatch a ticket for the 2017/18 UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Arsenal Ladies will now prepare for their FA WSL Conti Cup semi-final that will be played next Sunday at Manchester City. They will be without Emma Byrne, who was sent off for fouling Ellen White outside her penalty area.

It’s another tough away game considering City have not lost a game yet this season in regulation time. Their only defeat came in the FA Cup when they conceded a last minute goal in extra-time at Chelsea.
