Our buddy Emanuele Giulianelli is back and this time he’s claiming that Arsenal are set to sign Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia today (Friday) with his medical due to take place on Monday.

According to Giulianelli, the deal is worth €30m and the reason it’s taken so long was because both clubs were waiting to see if his previous injury had healed. Not because Arsenal are dithering over the price, which most media outlets are claiming.

Although this does make sense, Giulianelli isn’t the most reliable source. In fact, some of his claims in the past have bordered on the ridiculous. For example, remember when Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema was signing a four-year contract with us?

Or just weeks ago when we agreed personal terms with Romelu Lukaku?

Yeah.

Although I’m convinced we do have some interest in Mustafi, considering what his father/agent has previously said, with him recently claiming that we’ll find out what’s going on with his son very soon, I very much doubt that Giulianelli has any genuine insight into this transfer. Or any, for that matter.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in the centre-back.

Stay tuned. We’ll have a dig and come back with an updated post later on.
