The Italian media appear to be reporting that Inter Milan are lining up a move for AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca but is there anything to it.

The report claims that Inter could – emphasis on could – sign the striker, who has actually been linked to both Arsenal once or twice, in order to replace Icardi. The rumour comes shortly after the Italian media began to claim that Arsenal were ‘getting serious’ with their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Breaking down the rumour linking Bacca to Inter, there doesn’t appear to be much to it at all. It’s all ifs and buts. IF Icardi leaves Inter, they’ll will have to replace him. The same report also links him with a move to Napoli because they sold their main man, Gonzalo Higuain to Jeventus, and something the club have said won’t happen. If Inter won’t sell to Napoli, what makes Inter think AC Milan – their closest rivals – will sell Bacca to them?

Bacca has been linked to a number of other clubs around Europe, including West Ham, PSG and Barcelona after he scored 18 Serie A goals in 38 appearances last season.

PSG have since apparently pulled out of the race to get Bacca’s signiture, leaving the Hammers in the driver’s seat.

He’s thought to be worth £26m, which is actually pretty reasonable, even if he is 29. If West Ham do manage to get him, that would be a decent signing for them going into the new season.

So, after all this, no real news on Icardi, just more speculation to drown out the silence.
