Serge Gnabry’s dad has confirmed that Serge will leave Arsenal to join Bayern Munich on a permanent basis.

The player is expected to sign a five-year deal and be loaned out immediately to Werder Bremen to help them cover for injured players.

Speaking to SWR, Jean-Hermann Gnabry said, “I would have liked it if Serge would have prevailed here at Arsenal, he still has a contract until 2017. But he’s already in thoughts away.

“Bayern is like Arsenal. Even there he has extremely strong competition. He should have more patience here in London.”

Gnabry is out of contract next summer and Wenger had been very clear on his desire to get the German to stay. Reading back over Wenger’s recent Gnabry’s comments, it becomes clear that the player has been pushing for a move.

Gnabry joined Arsenal in 2011 and has made himself a real fan’s favourite. Suffering a knee injury that kept him out for over a year, we believe there was absolutely no interest in the player before he shone at the Olympics this summer.

We have no word on a fee yet but we are continuing to monitor the German press and will update on site when we find out.

The deal is expected to be announced today according to multiple reports in German.

How disappointing.
