According to reports from Spain, Arsenal will double Lucas Perez’s wages after he agreed a four-year deal to sign from Deportivo La Coruna.

Activating his €20m release fee, Arsenal will pay slightly more than that as they pay taxes as well, and the player will receive €2.5m per year which works out at €48k per week. In Sterling, that equates to £40.1k.

The Spanish report does not say how much Perez was earning in Spain but they close their article by saying “nearly doubling his earnings from Deportivo.”

When you consider the wages that many players are on, especially at the likes of the two Manchester clubs, this is practically peanuts.

Sure, to normal people like you and me £40k a week would be a total and utter life-changer, but in football that is certainly a salary at the lower end, especially for clubs at the top end of the table.
