Toulouse boss, Pascal Dupraz, has seemingly confirmed that Arsenal were interested in Wissam Ben Yedder after all.

The striker, who has now signed for Sevilla, was randomly linked with a move to Arsenal last week, something we were pretty skeptical about considering it came out of nowhere. Now, Dupraz claims that Ben Yedder could well have signed for the Gunners.

“He could have gone to Arsenal, who are one of the largest,” Dupraz revealed to Estadio.

“But Sevilla are also a big club and I think La Liga is perfect for him, because he is a technical player and very attacking.”

On the surface, it does appear that we were interested in the 25-year-old and that he turned us down. However, looking at what Dupraz actually said, it isn’t so black and white. He never says Arsenal wanted him and he turned them down, he just names us as a big club that he could have gone to apart from Sevilla.

Of course, it could be as simple as it sounds and Ben Yedder turned us down but I still have doubts about us turning our attention away from Alexandre Lacazette for someone a third – or less – of the Lyon man’s price.
