With Mesut Ozil ‘only’ having two years left on his current Arsenal contract, the paper nonsense has already begun.

First we had claims that he wanted to return to Real Madrid, or Real Mardid wanted him back, or something, then we had Arsene Wenger being questioned about his contract at his pre-Liverpool press conference.

Now, a report in Germany, claiming to be from AS, is saying that Ozil is a target for Bayern Munich, heading up their ‘list of priorities’.

I don’t know about you, but I am getting seriously concerned about the recent trend of clubs not being able to protect sensitive information. Every day another club is revealed to be preparing a bid, or getting ready to enter talks, or drawing up lists, all no doubt done in secret only to find their way into the papers.

It’s almost as if you can’t believe 98% of what you read today. I just made that statistic up. You can call it ‘news’ if you like, those seem to be the new rules.

As pointed out by the German website TZ, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern chief exec, doesn’t even like Ozil.

The Times, meanwhile, reported that talks with Arsenal will not resume until after the window has shut, implying, to me at least, that he won’t be going anywhere during this window.

Could you imagine the carnage amongst the fanbase if he was sold?

Behave.
