Arsenal are reportedly eyeing up a £60m move for Alexandre Lacazette… not this guy again?!

The Lyon striker, as we all know, was heavily linked with a move to north London earlier in the transfer window. Arsenal made a bid, the Ligue 1 club publicly turned it down and we all moved on – except for the media, that is.

As much as Lacazette appeared to enjoy fanning to flames, Lyon always claimed they were keeping the striker.

Now, the Frenchman has racked up six goals in three appearances (although he now appears to be injured), prompting the media to start salivating with joy over the new stories they can concoct.

The latest is, according to Transfer Market Web, that we’re going to randomly ride in and pay £60m in order to bring Lacazette to the Emirates.

Right. Now that I’ve stopped laughing, let’s actually break this down.

Lyon claimed back in July that Arsenal had bid €35m for Lacazette and they rejected it. They did imply, however, that a bid of €48m might do it.

Arsenal didn’t return with another bid.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal have signed Deportivo forward, Lucas Perez, for a reported €20m.

What makes anyone think that the Gunners would now come in with a bid of around €70m for Lacazette, given the fact that we wouldn’t even pay the €48m Lyon basically asked for? Especially after we’ve just signed a striker?

It makes no sense.
