While Arsenal continue to reportedly try and wrestle Shkodran Mustafi out of Valencia’s clutches, we’ve apparently also turned our attention to Fiorentina centre-back, Davide Astori.

According to reports, the 29-year-old is the cheaper option so that’s why we’ve got him on our list of potential transfer, which must be a mile long now if the media are to be believed.

Unfortunately for us, however, the Italian club don’t want to let him go. Last season, he made 33 Serie A appearances, with almost all of them being full matches. They don’t want to let one of their key players leave, which is understandable.

Astori is the latest in a long line of centre-backs being linked with a move to north London this summer and until we sign Mustafi – IF we sign Mustafi – they’re only going to continue.

Whether it’s just the media linking us to everyone for column inches since they know we’re in the market; Mustafi’s agent/father trying to put pressure on Arsenal and Valencia to come to an agreement; or Valencia applying pressure to Arsenal to put in a bid, we won’t know until later on.

How frustrating.
