Thanks to one tweet from the BBC’s David Ornstein, everyone now believes Arsenal are interested in Fenerbahce’s Simon Kjaer.

The centre-back is 27 years old and only joined the Turkish club last year. He’s since gone on to make 47 appearances in all competitions and plays the full 90 minutes practically every single game. He’s a big part of their starting XI and has even scored two goals in the Turkish League, which isn’t too bad for a centre-back.

Before signing for Fenebahce, Kjaer played for Lille in Ligue 1 and started near enough every match for them as well. He’s not injury prone and is clearly reliable.

The Denmark international is a threat from set-pieces and likes to play the ball along the ground, which would benefit us.

Saying all this, it’s very unlikely that we’ll be signing him. Not just because he only signed for Fenerbahce in 2015 but because we’ve been so heavily linked with Mustafi.
