Arsenal were first linked with Islam Slimani back in May when he laughed at his £12m Transfermarkt valuation, and the latest reports claim that we’re still ‘tempted’ to go for him.
The Sporting striker would definitely be a slightly cheaper option than most out there but there’s actually very little to suggest we really keeping an eye on him.
To be fair, the 27-year-old did score 31 goals in 46 games (all competitions) for Sporting last season, which is a really, really good return. Obviously, we don’t know how suited he would be to the Premier League but that’s the risk you take with recruiting players from other leagues.
Islam Slimani: Only Jonas (32) has scored more goals in Liga NOS than Slimani (27) in the last 2 seasons

Are Arsenal really tempted to go for Slimani, as the reports say? I doubt it. The guys claiming this are the same who said we had agreed a deal with Riyad Mahrez and obviously that never happened.
The link was always going to re-emerge since Joel Campbell has gone to Sporting on loan.
Would he be a good signing? I don’t think he’d be bad at all.
