According to Sky Sports, Chuba Akpom and Mathieu Debuchy are set to stay at Arsenal despite both being linked with loan moves away.

Akpom seemed the least likely of the pair to go out on loan. He spent last season at Hull and the way Arsene Wenger has spoken about him so far since pre-season implies that he does have plans for the striker.

Debuchy, however, seemed destined for a move away. After falling behind Hector Bellerin in the pecking order, he barely gets any game time and you’d think a move away would be the best way to remedy this.

The right back was linked with a move back to Bordeaux, where he spent some of last season, Galatasaray and more recently Espanyol.

Sky Sports claim that both are willing to stay and ‘fight’ for their spot in the first team, which, if true, is admirable, since neither are currently first choice by any stretch. Well, maybe first choice for the League Cup…

I kid, I kid.

If they do stay and try to earn their place, it makes a refreshing change… Although Debuchy’s calf injury probably had a hand (or calf) in his decision to stay…
