Arsene Wenger hailed Granit Xhaka’s ability in just about every area of the pitch and, coincidentally, the Switzerland international rocked up at London Colney smiling from ear-to-ear.

The midfielder, who was our first signing of the summer transfer window, impressed everyone with his performances at the Euros and Wenger has insisted that this is just the beginning.

“[Xhaka brings] his passing ability to play through the lines from deep positions, his work rate, and he’s good in the air,” the boss said to Arsenal Player.

“He’s a young boy as well, 23 years old. There’s a lot to come from him. We lost three midfielders: Flamini, Rosicky and Arteta, and numbers-wise we are quite solid in midfield now.

“Elneny had a big impact when he came here, Coquelin was injured for a long time and is back. Cazorla will come back, Wilshere is back… so we are solid in midfield.”

Xhaka has already toured the Emirates but now it’s time for him to get to work, so he sat on some mats at London Colney. He also sat on a strange cube and looked deep in thought.

The 23-year-old is unlikely to start training with the rest of the squad for a while, considering Switzerland were knocked out of the Euros by Poland on June 25th (pens…ouch) and he’ll need a bit more time to ease into it.

He looks good in his kit though.
