Arsene Wenger has said that Alexis’s ankle injury is ‘not too bad’ but the Chilean will not take part in Arsenal’s tour of the USA.

Alexis was crippled during the Copa America final when he was on the receiving end of an horrendous tackle.

He posted a number of images over the summer as the swelling and bruising took hold with many speculating that he would miss the season opener against Liverpool.

At the time, I said that seemed like nothing more than speculation and we wouldn’t know more until he returned from his holidays.

Now, speaking after the 1-1 draw with Lens on Friday night, Arsene Wenger has said, “Alexis will not go either because he had an ankle injury. That is not too bad but I will leave him behind as well.”

Gabriel is likely to make the US tour despite not being included in the squad of the game against Lens. The defender missed out due to picking up tonsillitis and having to stay home and eat ice-cream given his infection level.
