Robin van Persie has been rejected by West Ham despite offering to take a pay cut.

The striker, who spent the last season at Fenerbahce picking up around £240,000 a week, has been given his marching orders by the Turkish team who have not only made it clear that they’re willing to listen to offers, but seem pretty keen to sell him quickly.

The 32-year-old is reported to want a move back to London and a few Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace and newly promoted Middlesbrough have been linked. However, another he was linked with, West Ham, have now rejected the chance to sign him.

According to the Mirror, the Hammers were thinking of signing the Dutchman and paying him £150,000 a week. He was willing to take the pay cut but they’ve now turned around and said they don’t want him.

No one’s really sure why they’ve passed up the opportunity to sign Van Persie, except they’ve now turned their attention to Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca.
