Well, another weekend has come and gone and we are, thankfully, a little closer to the new season and regular Arsenal.

Despite having actual football to talk about, in as much as the first friendly of the season is ‘actual football’ it was a transfer rumour that dominated proceedings over the weekend – that of Riyad Mahrez.

From a promising start, it didn’t, however, take long for it to fall apart.

Other rumours saw us linked with Arda Turan again while Carlos Bacca, Alexandre Lacazette and Ben Chilwell all got an outing as well.

In outgoings, it seems as if a deal has finally been found between Arsenal and Roma for Wojceich Szczesny, while David Ospina handed in a transfer request. Allegedly.

Alex Hleb became the third ex-Arsenal midfielder to move this week, returning home to BATE Borisov while Robin van Persie’s wages have been branded a ‘joke’ by Sporting’s manager.

Finally, if you want to know what Arsenal are actually trying to do in this transfer window, Arsene Wenger broke with tradition, and told us. No, really.

Happy Monday.
