In one of the more bizarre transfer stories surrounding Arsenal lately, West Ham have been linked with a move for Olivier Giroud.

Of course, I can understand why the Hammers would want him. Despite having ‘dry spells’ for Arsenal, his return is still pretty impressive and he’s been brilliant for France at the Euros, scoring three goals and assisting two.

Where does the rumour seem to have stemmed from? Twitter, which should tell you everything you need to know about how likely this is to be genuine. Twitter can be an amazing place for tidbits that lead to a bigger story or more reliable source but it can also be the origin of countless deadends.

In this case, I doubt it’s true and even if it was, Giroud will not be going to West Ham. With all due respect, it would be a step down in both quality and wages. Wenger has given absolutely no indication that he’d be looking to sell the 29-year-old – quite the opposite – and Oli seems to be happy staying in north London.
