Roma have claimed that they will not be letting go of Kostas Manolas amid rumours that the centre-back and another player had a fight in the dressing room.

According to Gazetta World, Manolas and midfielder, Kevin Strootman, had an dressing room ‘bust-up’ after the defender didn’t show enough enthusiasm in training. Considering Manolas is after either a new improved contract, which would take his wages above Strootman’s, you can understand why the Dutchman would be a little annoyed.

The extent of the bust-up, if it happened at all, is unclear, although I doubt it was a serious case of fisticuffs.

This rumour emerges, somewhat suspiciously (insert side-eye emoji) around the same time that Roma president, James Palotta, claimed that the centre-back won’t be leaving the Serie A outfit anytime soon.

“Why on earth should Manolas leave? Juan Jesus and Nacho are two experienced defenders who are going to help us. The team is working very hard for the Champions League play off stage.”

Both Chelsea and Arsenal are interested and it’s common knowledge that we need another centre-half, considering we’re down to three in the senior squad. Are we genuinely interested? I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
