It was an okay game with an okay result with Granit Xhaka integrating into the team straight away and others not showing up.

Here’s how we rated their individual performances.

Petr Cech – 7

Although he let in a goal, it was more the defence’s fault that his.

Krystian Bielik – 7

Held his own well and, despite being at fault for Drogba’s goal – the MLS All-Star’s only goal of the match – he looked mature in the role.

Rob Holding – 7

A strong first performance for Arsenal; you wouldn’t know he was only 20.

Kieran Gibbs – 6

Not at his best…he looked a little slow, although that could just be be. However, given his lack of playing time, it makes sense.

Mathieu Debuchy – 6

Although no huge mistakes were made, he was noticeably off the pace.

Francis Coquelin – 6

Mohamed Elneny – 6.5

Strong and assured. He even had a decent shot on goal.

Joel Campbell – 6

The forward won and scored his penalty but other than this – and the weird dance he did with Coq in celebration – he was uncharacteristically anonymous.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6.5

It wasn’t the winger’s best performance, not was it the worst. It was typically Ox-y, as he was good for short periods before disappearing again.

Jack Wilshere – 5

Was he even on the pitch?

Theo Walcott – 5.5

Wasteful. Showed glimmers of trying to get into the game but was decidedly rusty.

Special mentions

Granit Xhaka – 8

What a player we’ve signed. Already playing as if he’s been with Arsenal for years. His pace isn’t the best but what he lacks in speed he makes up for in ability.

Chuba Akpom – 8

The striker scored our second goal and made sure we left with a 2-1 win.
